Weddings

Traditional and Contemporary Services

I've officiated at both traditional and contemporary services, with many gradients in between.  Weddings have been performed in churches and temples, in wedding chapels or other similar venues, in private homes, around the pool, at the beach, in a park, at vineyards, in a the roller rink, and even in a hot-air balloon!  I once performed a wedding on the patio of a skilled nursing facility, so that a patient could see her granddaughter get married.

Whatever the venue, indoors or outdoors, your wedding deserves to be designed to create a beautiful start to your married life together.  I have sample weddings from various faith traditions to show you as a guide, along with samples of services that are simple, civil ceremonies.  We will discuss the overall mood or tone of the wedding, music, singers and/or musicians, scriptures to be used, photographers, videographers, unity candles, the co-mingling of colored sand—everything will be done to make this day sparkle!  And when it comes to reciting your vows, which really is the time in the service where you truly commit yourself to one another, you will have the opportunity to recite your own vows or select from a myriad of choices if creating those words is not what you feel comfortable doing. I will do it for you. It’s that simple!

Older Couples

It is truly a joy to witness love in full bloom later in life, and I have assisted older couples with new marriages and blending of families.

Gay Couples

Before the recent Supreme Court decision to make weddings available to all, I had officiated at unions of gay couples.  I am open to officiating at all weddings, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religious background, gender, or sexual orientation.

Renewal of Vows

This is one of the truly blessings in life, to help celebrate a marriage at an important milestone with a renewal and re-affirmation of the vows that were originally taken 10, 20, 25, 50 or more years ago. It honors and deepens those vows by affirming anew that this particular couple continues to make their marriage their priority.

One couple celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary wanted to renew their vows with an Elvis Presley theme.  We crafted nearly the entire service out of lines from Elvis songs or music from the King.  It was quite a hit!
